Reminiscent of its "Where the Streets Have No Name" music video from "The Joshua Tree" album, U2 gave an impromptu concert on a subway platform in NYC on Monday night, according to E! News.

It actually turned out to be a rehearsal for an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," which will take place on Friday night. But the band decided to opt for the subway platform for its rehearsal instead of private quarters to give its fans a special treat that for most will be a memory that'll last a lifetime.

The band performed three of its well-known hits, "Beautiful Day," "Angel of Harlem" and "Song for Someone."

Cell phone cameras were rolling while the band played in the Grand Central subway stop, though the band's label will likely have them banned from YouTube. People were crowding around, which included a familiar face. Lisa Whelchel, who played Blair Warner on "The Facts of Life" in the '80s, was in attendance as the crowd started gather around the band, which caught her attention as well.

This is not the only instance of the band making random public appearances lately. Huffington Post reports that Fallon and U2 singer Bono have been seen around town on bikes, apparently mocking the fact that their last scheduled appearance on the "Tonight Show" last fall got canceled due to Bono having a bike accident, which broke a few bones and injured his guitar-playing fingers, leaving him without the ability to play guitar, even to this date.

Huff Post also reports that the band was initially in masked disguises when they started playing and eventually unmasked and revealed themselves, reportedly on tape to be featured on a "Tonight Show" segment. They also said Jimmy Fallon was there at the time, as was celebrity chef Mario Batali.
