'Vacation' Sequel: Ed Helms & Christina Applegate Reboot To Share Similarities With Original, New Trailer Released [Watch]
According to the Irish Examiner, the new "Vacation" reboot film has a lot in common with the original. But then again, very little in the movie is exactly the same, which has been remade to suit modern times.
To start out, this is about the new Griswold family, not the Clark Griswold family.
In the 1983 original, it was Clark Griswold who took his wife, daughter and son on a cross-country trip to Wally World. This time, Rusty is now a father, and he is taking his family on the same journey across the country to visit Wally World, with the same antics his father encountered, just with a few subtle differences.
His sister, Audrey, is also grown up and married to a hunky man portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. The trailer clearly inserts him into the comedy with an awkward yet revealing moment in the bedroom when they are visiting, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Hemsworth comically struts around their room in his underwear, by which his male genitalia are outlined. He has no shirt or pants on and even strikes a weird pose before he leaves the room.
The new film tried to touch on moments from the original, which includes the scene with beauty Christie Brinkley pulling up beside them on the highway. Except in this trailer, the gorgeous new model is plowed down by an oncoming truck. This in turn sets up the comedy at the late night swimming pool to be a misunderstood moment by weary witnesses.
Although the Griswold's, and their many incarnations, have taken several "Vacations" over the years in various ways, this will be the first film where Chevy Chase will pass the torch and take a backseat.
Not to worry though because he and his wife will still be making an appearance in the movie. This time as minor characters.
