The Detroit Pistons will reportedly make a strong push to acquire Draymond Green this summer, but the mother of the Golden State Warriors forward, Mary Babers-Green, wants her son to stay at the Bay Area.

Signing with the Pistons will give Babers-Green the opportunity to watch her son live more often in Michigan, but she pointed out that she wants Green to play for a team where he is loved and where he will get enough opportunity to make an impact.

"I want him to stay in the place that will be the most productive for his career, and I want what makes him happy," Babers-Green said via Detroit Free Press. "The Bay loves Dray, and Dray loves the Bay."

Green played college basketball at Michigan State and will have the chance to return to his home state if he decides to sign with the Pistons, but his mother is still convinced Golden State is the best place for her son.

Previous reports indicated that the Pistons will prepare a lucrative offer when Green becomes a restricted free agent. Pistons center Andre Drummond also made it no secret that he wants to play alongside Green, but the Warriors will have the right to match any offer for the former Michigan State standout to keep him in Golden State.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not they will match the offer sheet if the Pistons decide to offer a deal worth more than $15 million per year, which is the projected annual salary of Green in his next contract based on how he improved this season.

Green, the 35th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, averaged 11.7 points to go along with 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 79 regular-season games this season, helping the Warriors finish with best regular-season in the league at 67-15.

The 25-year-old forward finished second to San Antonio Spurs guard forward in the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year race and second to Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler in the 2015 Most Improved Player of the Year award.
