'American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson' News: Selma Blair to Star as Kris Jenner in FX Series; See Who Else Has Been Cast
Selma Blair has been cast to play the role of Kris Jenner in the FX's "American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson."
According to E News, the "Legally Blonde" star will be joined by Cuba Gooding Jr., cast as Simpson, and David Schwimmer, who will play her husband, Robert Kardashian.
The website adds Courtney B. Vance will star as Johnnie Cochran, and John Travolta will play fellow Simpson team attorney, Robert Shapiro. Sarah Paulson is set to star as Marcia Simpson and Jordana Brewster as Denise Brown.
Back in 1995, former Heisman Trophy winner Simpson went on trial on double murder charges stemming from the stabbing deaths of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, setting off what became known as the "trial of the century."
Judge Lance Ito ruled cameras would be allowed in the courtroom, prompting some to also deem the proceedings as the first real reality show to ever hit the airwaves.
The highlight of the trial perhaps played out when Cochran took to the floor and admonished jurors, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit," a rhyme that would become his mantra throughout the proceedings and referred to what he deemed as a stream of faulty and inconsistent evidence against his client. Ultimately, Simpson was acquitted of all the charges.
The 42-year Blair's body of work also includes roles in such films as "Cruel Intentions," "Hellboy 11: The Golden Army," "The Sweetest Thing," "The Fog," "Purple Violets," "The Poker House" and "Columbus Circle."
Jenner, meanwhile, stars on the reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and has been instrumental in being a driving force behind the still booming Kardashian brand that includes daughters Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie.
According to CNN, the 67-year-old Simpson is now serving a 33-year sentence on armed robbery charges stemming from a 2007 incident in a Las Vegas hotel, where he was allegedly seeking to retake possession of memorabilia he claimed rightfully belonged to him
