In the latest episode of "Law & Order: SVU" titled "Parents' Nightmare" the Special Victims Unit tries to get to the bottom of a child abduction case, according to Spoilers Guide.

The SVU is on the lookout for 8-year-old Owen Farhidi. Owen has been abducted and his mother Dana receives a ransom note.

The team quickly finds Owen and his kidnapper is apprehended. However, the case does not stop there.

In surveillance footage, it is revealed that Owen actually knows his abductor. This means that his mother likely knows the abductor too. Is Owen's mother behind the abduction at all?

In an episode sneak peek, Dana denies knowing the kidnapper after being shown images on a tablet.

To make matters worse, Det. Amaro is trying to work with Dana to help get the case solved, but Dana's ex-husband, Sam, starts arguing with her and tensions rise between the two. This obstructs the investigation.

In the episode promo, Owen is approached by a strange man. He tells Owen that he was sent by his mother to pick him up. Owen agrees and the man forcefully puts him into the back of a truck.

Dana is connected to the man via a video call on a cell phone. She demands for Owen to be returned. The man demands $37,000 in cash.

The SVU unit tracks down the suspect who denies everything. He says that it was all Dana's request for Owen to be kidnapped. Sgt. Benson replies, "No mother would ever do that to her child!"

Also in the episode, Sgt. Benson is acting like the lieutenant of the Special Victims Unit but she is not officially named that title. Once she passes her lieutenant's exam, she can formally take over the squad.

This is the last episode before the season finale on May 20. This week's episode airs on Wednesday May 13 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
