Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 Spoilers & Cast News: What did ABC Reveal at 2015-2016 Upfront?
There's been plenty of buzz surrounding "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3, but now some questions can be answered.
On Wednesday, during its 2015-2016 upfront event, ABC released the official description for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3, according to reports.
What did the official description reveal?
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for a dynamic, action-packed third season, as Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) embarks on a deadly new secret mission to protect the world from new threats in the wake of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s wars with Hydra and a rogue faction of Inhumans."
IGN spoke with Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell about Season 3 and "Skye's new Inhuman team, what Ward has up his sleeve, Coulson's missing hand, and more."
In Season 3, "Coulson also wants Skye to form a new, super-powered and anonymous team. Is this heading towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe take on Secret Warriors?" IGN asked.
"Well, Daisy Johnson certainly has a big part in Secret Warriors and having a team like that. If you'll notice, Coulson says right now she is the only person in what might be this new outfit. But you know, the idea of a team of powered people is something we've seen in the show, and I think there's a world down the road where we do our version," Bell explained to IGN.
"We do our version of all these things so they may not be Secret Warriors but there's a whole lot of super-powered people fighting super-powered people. That's not really what we do or what we can even do on a weekly series. But tipping our hats to that direction I think is something we're suggesting there in the new season."
Returning cast members include: Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Nick Blood as Lance Hunter and Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will continue to air on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in the fall, but in the meantime, "Agent Carter" will again fill in "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" midseason hiatus in the same time slot.
