Fans of the signature shoe collaboration between Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant and global sports brand Nike would soon have another sneaker to look forward to. The NBA star has recently teased his followers on Instagram about the upcoming KD 8 in a bright red color.

The OKC forward might have been injured, but that would not stop him from getting a new design for his signature line. The 26-year-old Washington-native recently took to social media to show his fans the design of the upcoming KD 8.

Durant uploaded on Instagram a sketch of the shoe captioned: "Coming soon... #KD8"

Prior to the actual sketch, Durant also uploaded an image to Instagram on May 12, which hinted at the new design. The image was of a wolf with fangs seemingly erased beside the number "8." The two figures were placed side by side on red background. Cryptic words accompanied it that said, "It's not just the ink on my body... attacking is in my DNA. #KD8"

Officially listed as Bright Crimson/ White-Black, the KD 8 "Bright Crimson" sneaker has simple and sleek design. It comes in a bright red color with hints of black all over and a touch of white on the branding.

The new KD 8 comes at a lower height than its predecessor, Pro Basketball Talk noted. The Leo Chang-designed sneaker also comes with a different forefoot cushioning. Some speculated that Nike brought upon the change to address the Jones fracture the basketball star incurred during the offseason.

Apart from the cushioning, the new KD 8 also reverted back to the design minus the midfoot strap, which was a staple of the KD 7, Kicks on Fire reported. The Hyperposite construction was done away with, but the Air cushion unit at the sole remains.

At first glance, Kicks on Fire explained that it would seem that the shoe is more fit for runners because of its similarity with other running shoe designs on the market along with the addition of a knitted upper.

The shoelaces, midsole and tongue all come in the same crimson hue. The initials "KD" could be found on the tongue, while the Nike swoosh on both sides of the sneaker comes in white.

It was initially reported by Nice Kicks that the shoe would hit shelves starting June 27. However, further reports said that the release date has been pushed back to July 11. Nike has yet to offer a statement regarding the date.

Fans could cop the KD 8 "Bright Crimson" for only $180. It has not been announced if the company would create grade school sizes for the design too.
