Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin Feud: Jon Seeking Full Custody of Daughter Hannah, 11, After Alleged ‘Cruelty’
Jon Gosselin, the former "Jon & Kate Plus 8" reality star and father to Kate Gosselin's eight children, is seeking full custody of their 11-year-old daughter Hannah, reports In Touch Weekly.
"She said she didn't want to go home to her mom [Kate] because she can't take the cruelty anymore," an insider told In Touch about Hannah's visit on April 23. "Hannah was so afraid of her mom that Jon became concerned and called [Berks County, Pennsylvania] Children & Youth Services and filed a report -- and he took emergency custody of Hannah."
Jon, 38, took custody without a court order. Kate, 40, who has primary custody of the children, went ballistic.
"She showed up at Jon's house and stood in the street screaming for Hannah to come home, but she wouldn't leave," the insider said.
Kate allegedly called the police, according to the insider.
Kate, who has not commented publicly about the incident, took Hannah home after she spent four days at Jon's house.
"But Jon will be filing a petition to modify custody, and if he gets it, he'll be contacting TLC to put a stop to filming [Kate Plus 8]," says the insider. "Hannah doesn't want to film, but Kate is making her and she's not the only child who has no interest in being on the show."
It is not the first time the mother of eight has been accused of being harsh with her children. In November 2014, Children and Youth Services investigated allegations that Kate had been physically and psychologically abusive to her son Collin. Investigators ruled the abuse claims were "unfounded."
In March, Jon went to court alleging that Kate took a trip with the two older children and left the younger kids in the care of a 19-year-old babysitter for six days.
On the "Kate Plus 8" Mother's Day special, Kate explained her parenting methods, which include timeouts, and insisting the kids eat vegetables and fruit every meal. She said that she hopes "somewhere along the line I'm doing something right and they all turn out okay."
She said that through TLC's "Kate Plus 8" the world watches her parent alone.
"The criticism has been very harsh, the accusations have been insanely hurtful and absurd. But the bottom line is, I know I am doing the best for my children first and foremost. ... I'm always doing the best that I know how. ... Have your opinions because no one does everything right," she said.
Hannah is the second born of the sextuplets and, according to TLC, is "mommy's little helper." She is affectionately called "Hannah Banana" by the family.
