"Lo Imperdonable," Univision's latest telenovela -- set to premiere on Monday -- will feature a star-studded cast that includes Iván Sánchez, Sergio Sendel, Ana Brenda Contreras and Grettell Valdez, the Spanish-language television network announced.

The show is produced by Salvador Mejía, who also led "La Tempestad" and "Qué Bonito Amor," among more than a dozen other novelas. His new creation's plot centers on a character named Martín San Telmo, played by Sánchez, who tries to avenge his brother's death at Mexico's Mina Escondida, Univision revealed.

"Martín blames a woman for his brother's death and vows to avenge it," the show's official description detailed. "A medallion leads him to the Prado Castelo family, owners of the country's biggest jewelry firm," it added.

Verónica, a young beauty adopted by the Prado Castelo clan and played by Contreras, soon converts herself into a love interest for both Martín and Emiliano, the sole heir to the jewelry empire, who has just returned from a stay abroad.

To make matters even more complicated, Virginia -- her manipulative sister played by Valdez -- tries to discredit Verónica and makes others believe that she had an affair with Demetrio, Martín's dead brother.

"It's pretty difficult to be this kind of character in a world that is as 'machista' as the Latin and Mexican ones," Contreras told the Associated Press. "All of a sudden, it can seem almost aggressive, initially," the 28-year-old actress added.

Nevertheless, the Río Bravo native said she was tremendously enjoying the filming of "Lo Imperdonable."

"I live the experience in a different way," Contreras said, "because I have noticed that the expectations and the pressure are different, and so is the manner to enjoy it."

Sánchez, for his part, admitted that his character does not fit into the mold of the "traditional galan," either, the newswire noted.

"It's not the typical 'black and white' that (normally) characterizes novelas," he explained.

"Lo Imperdonable," which is based on Karla Álvarez' and Kate del Castillo's "La Mentira," will air Monday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time (8 p.m. Central Time) on Univision.
