'The Good Wife' Season 6 Finale Recap and Season 7 Spoilers: Actor Opens About how Cary Will Move on Without Kalinda
Monday's Season 6 finale of "The Good Wife" was filled with emotion as Alicia Florrick said her final farewell to Kalinda and Peter announced that he is considering a run for president.
During the finale -- titled "Wanna Partner?" -- Peter told Alicia and his family that he has been asked to run for president. However, because he lacks the skillset and fundraising to be elected as the Commander-in-Chief, he would use the campaign to become a viable candidate for vice president. Although Peter told Alicia that he would only run if she and their children approved, Alicia made it clear that she is completely against the idea since it would put their family under heavy scrutiny.
In addition, Alicia said goodbye to her former friend and confidant, Kalinda. The old friends shared a simple and sincere exchange over two shots of Tequila at a bar.
"My time with you as your friend was the best I ever had, and I'm sorry. I'm really sorry that things got messed up," Kalinda told Alicia, notes E! News.
"I wish we had the chance to do it over again," Alicia said.
"I have to go," Kalinda told her in response.
"I'll never see you again?" Alicia asked.
"I don't think so," Kalinda replied.
"That's too bad," Alicia said, while looking away, before Kalinda said "Goodbye."
According to TVLine, the exchange marked the first time that the private investigator and Alicia appeared in the same scene in two years, following their fallout after Alicia found out that Kalinda had slept with her husband, Peter.
During an interview with HuffPost Live, series costar Matt Czuchry teased that Kalinda's exit will leave a lasting impact throughout Season 7, since she left without giving her former colleagues and boyfriend closure.
"Cary and Kalinda have had a strong friendship over 100-plus episodes, so that lack of closure is going to come into play in season 7," said Czuchry, who plays Cary on the show. "It would be interesting to see Cary with somebody else. Oftentimes we jump in relationships too soon after getting out of them, and it'd be interesting to see him to muddle through another relationship because he didn't get closure with Kalinda."
