Celebrity Homes: American Celebrity Chef Paula Deen Lists Savannah Compound
Celebrity chef Paula Deen has listed her Savannah home for $12.5 million, Variety reported.
The property, which Deen shares with her husband Michael Groover, was reportedly purchased nine years ago for only $3.75 million. Thus, closing the sale of this Savannah compound located in Georgia will give the couple more than thrice the amount they paid it for.
The Luxury Savannah Property
According to Variety, the more than 14,500-square-foot-residence contains eight bedrooms and nine and a half bathrooms. It also boasts scenic locations of the Wilmington River as it has around 300 feet of water frontage.
Here are a few more descriptions from the site:
The expansive French Caribbean-inspired mansion of the former The Food Network chef, resting on about 5.5 acres of Georgia land, showcases several luxurious details indoors. The master suite contains a walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom. It also has a direct access to a private terrace and a dramatic living room where the host can entertain his or her guests.
The home comes with an exercise and a high-end media room featuring a projector, a soda fountain and an ice maker. The residence also includes a study room adorned with a saltwater aquarium, which makes working or studying interesting.
Being a chef, anybody should be interested to take a look at Deen's kitchen. She has a modern kitchen equipped with commercial-grade appliances and an English pantry. However, one thing one may find odd is an aviary, which is said to be very near her kitchen.
Apart from the main residence, the Savannah property also comes with two guesthouses, a 10,000 square-foot barn and an eight car garage.
There are also several ways to make living in the Deen residence fun and exciting. The next owner can fish in a pond, walk around the lush landscaped grounds, play in the croquet court or just take a dip in the swimming pool equipped with dive-in theater. There is also an outdoor kitchen with barbecue grills and several refrigerators to serve as the cooking area for a large pool party.
Deen Learns Her Lesson
After a couple of years being dragged down by a racism controversy, Deen appeared to have learned her lesson. In a September 2014 interview with Today's Matt Lauer, Deen said, "Words are so powerful. They can hurt. They can make people happy. Well, my words hurt people. They disappointed people and frankly, I disappointed myself. And for that, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry for the hurt that I caused people because it went deep."
The scandal created a major blow in her culinary career, as she was fired by The Food Network in 2013, although the exact reasons were not explained. But she has moved forward and launched a subscription-based online channel -- "The Paula Deen Network" -- that offers audience advice and tips about cooking through new content and videos of her old cooking shows.
