Adele Hot New '25' Album Release Date 2015: Metallica Frontman James Hetfield Covers 'Crazy for You' With Daughter [Watch]
In a strange twist for anyone who has ever been to a Metallica concert, frontman James Hetfield performed a cover of Adele's "Crazy For You" with his daughter last Friday at a charity event, according to NME.
Hetfield played guitar while daughter Cali headlined the song, providing vocals in a terrific rendition of the song. Dad stayed on the guitar and remained quiet throughout the performance while his daughter stole the show with her vocal performance on stage.
The event, Acoustic-4-A-Cure, was staged in San Francisco to benefit the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital for research on brain tumors in children.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, other headliners for this event included Hetfield himself as a co-host, Sammy Hagar (who also co-hosted), Joe Satriani, Chad Smith, Jerry Cantrell, Linda Perry and Pat Monahan of Train.
Hetfield also teamed up with Cantrell to perform a cover of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper." Perry and Satriani joined for a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Communication Breakdown" as well as a cover of Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love."
According to Huffington Post, Hagar and Hetfield started the charity together, and this is the second year for the event. Hagar also performed at the event, which included a cover of B.B. King's "The Thrill Is Gone" in tribute to the late blues guitarist who died last week at his Las Vegas home.
Cantrell also performed a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here." Adam Sandler also participated in the event, joining Patrick Monahan on stage with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform a cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On" as well as Led Zeppelin's "Ramble On."
In other Metallica news, guitarist Kirk Hammett told Billboard that the band is currently working on a follow up to its 2008 "Death Magnetic" album. He said the new album is about 25 percent done. The band released a solo track last year named "Lord of Summer."
