‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 2 Finale Recap: Holt Is Demoted, Amy & Nick Kiss
Episode 23 of Season 2 of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" may have left some fans shocked, according to TV Line.
First of all, there was the surprising "demotion" to a desk in the NYPD's public relations division for Captain Holt. That whole situation arose after he uncovered an incriminating letter Wuntch once wrote. She retaliated by threatening all the nine-nines they will have a living hell on the job from her if Holt makes the paper public. In the end, he decided against taking the risk.
But that is not to say that Andre Braugher's character is off the show, just working in a different capacity. Co-showrunner Mike Schur assured the audience of this.
"You'll see him in the first episode [of Season 3]. You just won't see him in the precinct," Schur told TVLine. "The thing about those moves is you have to commit to them. They have to matter. You can't just come back and go, 'I change my mind!' There will be some amount of time where he's in a different world than the world of the precinct."
Holt wasn't the only headliner of the episode.
Jake finally got to plant not one, but three long-awaited kisses on crush Amy in the episode. Actors Andy Samberg and Melissa Fumero weighed in on the scene, which has been in the making all season long.
"I would assume [Jake] thinks it's going to continue in some way, shape or form," Samberg told TV Line. "But the way they've been, it might be immediately, 'Oh, this was a mistake.' Or it'll be like, 'It's on.'"
Fumero also saw the potential for it to crash as well.
"They're partners and they're good friends, and their desks are next to each other," Fumero said. "That's really intimidating for Amy if it doesn't work out, which is, of course, a possibility. That's definitely going to be a major conflict."
