The season finale of "Gotham" aired on May 7 and the FOX crime-drama television series, developed by Bruno Heller based on characters that appear in the DC comic "Batman," has left devout fans thirsty for Gotham-city action and gangster rivalries over the long summer ahead.

The DVD release date for the first season of Sept. 8, 2015 was announced ahead of the premiere date of the second season. Also, just less than a year after its U.S. premiere on Sept. 22, 2014. The upcoming season promises to bring on a healthy slew of new villains for Detectives James Gordon and Harvey Bullock to face off against, sometimes with the assistance of young Bruce Wayne and his clever butler Alfred Pennyworth. During the upcoming season, the villains will be less concerned with running Gotham; instead they'll be looking to destroy it.

With Jada Pinkett-Smith's (Fish Mooney) departure from the series, fans are digging for clues about what the second season will hold for its band of criminals and hopeful do-gooders. Next season, Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, David Mazouz, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, Camren Bicondova and Cory Michael Smith are set to reprise their vital roles on the series. Also, newcomers will appear to take on the role of the Joker and Mr. Freezer.

Netflix struck a deal so that each season of "Gotham" will be shared through the service. Also, according to Deadline, Netflix intends to pay 1.75 million dollars for each episode that they'll stream on the on-demand internet streaming media service. Netflix negotiated those terms after an exclusive premier of the pilot episode during the spring in Los Angeles.

Heller, John Stephens and Danny Cannon are completing the storyline for Season 2, and the production for the upcoming season will begin on June 22 at the Brooklyn Navy Yards, where the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire" was filmed.
