Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Allegations: Janice Dickinson Slaps Bill Cosby With Defamation Lawsuit Stemming From Sex Assault Allegations
Janice Dickinson is in the process of filing a lawsuit for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress against famed, but beleaguered comedian Bill Cosby.
In addition to alleging Cosby once drugged and raped her, Entertainment Tonight now reports Dickinson has elicited the services of well-known attorney Lisa Bloom in filing her defamation claim.
One of dozens of women who have made such allegations against 77-year-old Cosby, Dickinson first went public with her claims on ET back in November of 2014.
An attorney for Cosby immediately shot down the allegations, labeling Dickinson's story a "lie" along the way, a blistering rebuke that apparently prompted the former supermodel to seek legal recourse.
"I'm suing Bill Cosby for justice and vindication," said the 60-year-old former model. Bloom later added Dickinson's legal actions were further provoked by her anger over feeling "re-victimized."
Over time, Dickinson adds Cosby's alleged actions caused her to suffer nightmares, nervousness and embarrassment. She concludes the time is right for her to now seek justice.
"I could not let myself be silent," she said. "I am sober today, and I'm in a program of vigorous honesty. I want to protect all those women that haven't come forward and show them the love and support worldwide that what happened to me will not happen to another woman."
Cosby recently spoke publicly for the first time about all the allegations lodged against him, telling ABC, "I have been in this business 52 years and I've never seen anything like this. The reality is the situation. I can't speak."
When directly asked about his ongoing role in entertainment, Cosby admitted he would like to continue working in entertainment and stressed he has tons of ideas for television he's convinced will depict "people and their love for each other."
