In the upcoming two-hour series premiere of "Aquarius," it's 1967 and a decorated World War 2 marine, Sam Hodiak (David Duchovny -- "Californication," "The X-Files"), has returned from saving his country to start a new career as homicide detective in Los Angeles, California. Sam barely recognizes the city. Men have long hair. Drug use is rampant. There are Vietnam War and racial protests. The crime rate is rising.

It isn't only the change in society that Sam is coping with. His son has gone AWOL from the Vietnam War. His ex-wife is an alcoholic.

In Episode 1, "Everybody's Been Burned," ex-girlfriend Grace Karn (Michaela McManus -- "Law & Order: SVU") calls Sam to tell him that her 16-year-old daughter, Emma Karn (Emma Dumont -- "Salvation," "Bunheads"), went to a party and never returned. She asks him to help get her daughter back.

Sam wants to help, but no one in the flowerchild movement will talk to him. He enlists the help of a younger vice cop, Brian Shafe (Grey Damon -- "True Blood," "Friday Night Lights"), to get information from the counterculture so that they can find Emma.

In the video clip, Sam and Brian interview witnesses from the party. A young man tells Brian and Sam that he saw Emma leave with a guy. Soon, Sam discovers that she has joined a band of drifters under the sway of a charismatic career criminal who dreams of being a rock star: Charles Manson (Gethin Anthony -- "Game of Thrones").

In another scene of the sneak peek, we see the drifters and hear a man's voice say, "We're powerful. We can change everything."

A bearded man touches Emma's face and tells her, "I am Charles Manson."

In the next scene, Sam and Brian review Manson's criminal records.

"Thirty-three years old. Assault, attempted murder, rape -- Jesus," Sam exclaimed.

Can Sam and Brian rescue Emma before she falls victim to Manson's manipulation and abuse?

In another sneak peek from the premiere, Ken Karn (Brían F. O'Byrne -- "Prime Suspect"), Emma's father, hosts a party at his home with black-tie waiters and champagne. The soirée is suddenly interrupted by Manson who has come to ask Ken for $2,000 for his demo. The two men scuffle, but quickly stop when party guests take notice. Manson writes Ken a note of where to send his money before leaving. Watch the video clip.

Why would Emma's father finance Manson's record demo?
