James Bond 24 'Spectre' Release Date, Cast, Rumors & News: London Shuts Down for Action Sequence
Will the new James Bond "Spectre" be the biggest action movie in the franchise?
It is looking that way as reports indicate that the production of the film has shut down entire sections of London. According to Yahoo, "London Bridge and surrounding areas were closed on Sunday, 17 May, as the production shot an ambitious helicopter and boat chase."
Fans apparently crowded around the locations to check out the filming of the scenes with the hopes of seeing stars Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux, but those who went left disappointed. While the scenes being shot involved the two stars' characters, the stunt doubles were the ones involved in the actual film for safety precautions.
The action of the scene supposedly showcases a helicopter pursuing a speeding boat that contains Bond and Seydoux's character Madeleine Swan.
The chase reportedly went all the way to Westminster.
"Spectre" is slated to be one of the biggest action films of the year with a release slated for Nov. 6, 2015. In addition to Craig and Seydoux, the film also stars Christoph Waltz as the main villain with Monica Bellucci, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes filling out the cast of major stars appearing in the film.
"Spectre" which is being directed by Sam Mendes, has huge expectations to fulfill as it looks to better its predecessor "Skyfall." The first Mendes film in the franchise was a major hit, grossing over $300 million in the U.S. and over $1 billion internationally, the record for a film in the long-running franchise.
The second highest grossing film in the "Bond" franchise was actually "Quantum of Solace," but that film only raked in $168 million in the U.S. and $586 million worldwide.
With the success of "Skyfall," many are expecting "Spectre" to come close financially. However, that film will face stiff competition from "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," which opens a month later.
