Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen News: Famed Twins Will Not Join ‘Fuller House’ Reboot Series on Netflix
Fans of the original ABC sitcom "Full House" rejoiced to the news of a reboot of the series coming back on Netflix. But there has been lingering questions circling around the series -- especially on who was going to return.
At first, we knew that we would see Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Andrea Barber returning. But questions on the return of Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin and the Olsen twins -- Mary-Kate and Ashley -- were still not quite answered.
Although we have not heard news of Saget or Loughlin, The Hollywood Reporter reported the Olsen twins are not going to be reprising the role they shared as young Michelle Tanner in the series.
"Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of 'Fuller House,' I know how much 'Full House' has meant to them, and they are still very much considered family," said Robert L. Boyett, executive producer of the show.
"It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards 'Fuller House.'"
They had previously said in a statement that they had not been made aware of the "Full House" reboot, but Stamos called them out on social media saying that was not true.
Time reports that news of their absence on the upcoming show has left Stamos heartbroken, as he outlined in a Tweet.
"I understand they're in a different place and I wish them the best. I promise you will not be disappointed with our reunion and spinoff!!"
Stamos also took to Facebook and wrote, "Just so you reporters know -- this is not a money gig for any of us -- quite the opposite -- we want to give the fans what they deserve for supporting us for so many years -- we all just want to have fun -- do it in a classy way on Netflix and have a good time -- sad that a few don't share the rest of the cast's opinion -- i can only wish them the best -- JS."
