Some Android devices have yet to receive the latest OS update from Google, Android 5.0 Lollipop, but talks of the next system have already been circulating. It seems that the firm behind the OS is already developing the latest update and has given it another tasty and delectable internal code name to work with.

A report on Android Police said that developers in Google are already working on the Android M update also known by its internal moniker as "Macadamia Nut Cookie."

According to the site, hints of the sweet codename were seen in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). When the words "mnc-dev" showed up on the AOSP, it led them to ask reliable sources for its definition and was informed that it was the short cut for "Macadamia Nut Cookie," the next OS for Android.

If the name doesn't seem too good to be true, then it's probably because the "Macadamia Nut Cookie" is only the working title for developers to refer to. Once released, it would get an official name, which is still unclear at this point.

When Android 4.0 KitKat was in development, its code name was KLP or Key Lime Pie while Android 5.0 Lollipop was dubbed LMP or Lemon Meringue Pie.

While it might be too early to say that the Android M is in the works, Android users were alerted to its upcoming arrival when the schedule of the upcoming Google I/O conference has been posted online.

In the schedule, a session titled "Android for Work Update" slated for 2:30 - 3:00 p.m., a note that mentioned Android M were noticed by users.

"Android M is bringing the power of Android to all kinds of workplaces. This opens huge new markets for hundreds of millions of devices to workers at small businesses, deskless workers, logistics and warehousing jobs, all be empowered by adoption of Android devices at Work," the description for the session read.

It has since been removed from the lineup listed on the schedule.

Android Macadamia Nut Cookie has yet to be unveiled but rumors of possible features have already leaked online.

Another report from Android Police wrote that a new Photos app could be seen arriving with the latest OS from Google. The app would finally break away from viewing photos in the system's social platform to feature a standalone way to review images.

The new app is also rumored to allow simple editing of photos for the users.
