Grand Theft Auto Online players were recently promised fairness and equality in the online version of Grand Theft Auto V via an anti-cheating patch. The only problem is Rockstar Games isn't telling gamers when this update is coming.

At the end of December, Rockstar Games announced that they would release an update to eliminate gamers' ability to cheat and hack their way into unlimited amounts of GTA$.

"In regards to reports of hacking and cheating in Grand Theft Auto Online, we are working on a fix that will remove any GTA$ gained through these blatant exploits, as well as prevent this from happening in the future," the game developer said in a blog post.

In traditional Grand Theft Auto Online-style, however, the game developer is not being firm on when this update will actually come. Last Thursday, a gamer asked Rockstar Games for the release date of the cheat-eliminating patch.

"The exact date of the patch has not yet been released, but stay tuned here and to newswire for info as it becomes available," a Rockstar Games representative responded.

Another gamer suggests that the update will likely come as early as Jan. 7, but this is just one speculation.

Rockstar Games has, on the other hand, been very specific when it comes to who will be punished by the update. The game developer has specified that those who earned their massive wealth without cheats will not be penalized.

Still, some gamers, such as those who have spent modded cash, killed people with billion dollar bounties and received money from hackers, were worried that they might become a bankrupted victim of the upcoming patch.

"As stated, if you were not cheating/modding you have nothing to worry about..." Rockstar Support said via Twitter. "When we separate our wrongdoers, our focus is on cheaters and modders..."
