Ke$ha Eating Disorder Rehab: "Timber" Singer Reportedly Blames Producer Dr. Luke
Pop star Ke$ha has entered a rehab facility to treat an eating disorder.
Ke$ha checked into Timberline Knolls, a facility near Chicago, on Friday, in an effort to battle her eating disorder.
"I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice," Ke$ha said in a statement.
The 26-year old singer is reportedly a vegetarian.
"I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder ... to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am," the singer's statement continued.
According to tabloid gossip site, TMZ, the "Your Love is My Drug" singer's eating disorder was exacerbated by her producer, Dr. Luke, who signed the star when she was 18-years-old.
According to TMZ's sources who are "directly connected" to Ke$ha, Dr. Luke began calling her fat at the end of her 2011 Get Sleazy tour. At the time, Dr. Luke reportedly started attacking the star's body, which had changed during her time off.
Sources say that Dr. Luke demanded that Ke$ha's management do something to deal with her increasing body weight. In 2012, the producer reportedly told Ke$ha that she "looks like a f*cking refrigerator," which disturbed the "Timber" singer.
Ke$ha is staying in the same rehab facility where X Factor judge Demi Lovato sought treatment in November 2010.
Lovato, 21, says her eating disorder began at the age of eight or nine.
"I would bake cookies and then eat the whole pan," Lovato said in a revealing interview. "... I went to just completely starving myself, and that turned into throwing up and starving myself, and it was just this crazy battle going on inside of me. It got really difficult, [and] I would throw up and it would just be blood..."
On New Year's Eve, Ke$ha released her latest music video, "Dirty Love," which marks her first time stepping behind the camera as director.
