iPhone 6 Release Date, Features & Rumors: iPhone Phablet In May, iPhone 6 in September?
Apple iPhone fans could see two completely different kinds of phones this year.
Starting in May, the rumor mill -- more specifically, Yahoo! Japan -- suggests that Apple could be rolling out an iPhone "Phablet," or a cross between the usual iPhone and the iPad. Thus, the phone would be bigger than the already-increasing size of the iPhone yet smaller than an iPad.
Perhaps it will look something like an iPad Mini? Only time will tell.
Despite all of the talk about the iPhone 6, the phablet will likely be called something else -- the iPhone 6 is expected to be released later in the year, probably towards the back end of summer or the beginning of fall. September is currently the rumored release date for the iPhone 6, but as usual, Apple will not be spilling too many details until just before the release. A South Korean publication, ET News, reported that the iPhone 6 would be coming in September, but who knows?
It is hard to know what to expect with the two different releases after the tech giant already surprised us last year with the iPhone 5s and 5c in the tail end of 2013. However, perhaps the company is looking to make the two releases more unique and distinctive after the iPhone 5c seemed to have much less success than the 5s. Apple even ramped up the advertising campaigns for the iPhone 5c, but seemingly to no avail.
If Apple finds a way to cater to two different markets or demographics with the two different releases, it would likely find more success. What do you think about the potential for two different releases? Would you look to buy both of them? If not, which one do you think you will prefer? Let us know in the comments section below!
