The California Court of Appeal has rejected a petition filed by attorneys for Bill Cosby to have a lawsuit filed against him stemming from sexual assault allegations dismissed.

Entertainment Weekly reports the court ruled on Wednesday Judy Huth can move forward with the suit she filed late last year alleging Cosby sexually abused her more than 40 years ago and when she was just 15 years old.

"We are very happy about the Court of Appeal decision yesterday, which allows Ms. Huth's case to proceed rather than being dismissed," Huth's attorney Gloria Allred said in a statement. "It is very important to Ms. Huth that she be able to have her day in court in this case."

Huth's suit is just one of several recently filed against Cosby, including a defamation lawsuit filed by former model Janice Dickinson, who just last year publicly accused the famed comedian and actor of drugging and raping her years ago. Dickinson officially filed her suit in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this month, with the petition citing the "emotional distress" she has furthered suffered based on Cosby's incessant denials and claims that her story was fabricated.

Dickinson's suit also charges that Cosby, "through an attorney, publicly branded her a liar and called her rape disclosure a lie with the intent and effect of revictimizing her and destroying the professional reputation she's spent decades building."

The legal documents filed this week go into much further detail about what Dickinson claims happened the night she alleges she was assaulted. According to her version, Cosby offered her a pill and wine to help with menstrual cramps, even though he knew she had only recently been released from a rehab facility for addiction. She then claims that he sexually assaulted her, and she told close friends of the incident but never went to police out of fear of retaliation.

In all, dozens of women have recently emerged to launch similar claims against Cosby, including actress Lili Bernard, who once worked with him on the "Cosby Show" as zany school teacher Mrs. Minifield.
