'FIFA 16' Release Date & Gameplay Rumors: New EA Soccer Game Won't Come out for 3DS, Wii & PS Vita?
It seems that Nintendo fans of the football simulation video game, "FIFA 16," are in for disappointing news. Word is out that the next iteration of the series from EA Sports will not be available to devices of the Japanese electronics company.
Pocket Gamer spoke to EA Sports regarding the release date of the title to mobile and handheld devices and was welcomed with the unexpected news.
"With regards to FIFA 16 there isn't a Vita or 3DS version," a representative from the game developer confirmed. "We don't have any further detail on the mobile version but will be sure to share with you when we hear more."
The representative did not elaborate why the company came up with such decision.
While the representative only mentioned 3DS and Vita, it is still unknown if Nintendo Wii and Wii U devices will make the cut. According to Polygon, press releases from EA Sports did not include these consoles, which led to speculations that the upcoming video game is skipping Nintendo devices altogether.
"FIFA 15" was not made available to Wii U but was playable in the Wii console. If this year's "FIFA 16" skip Wii, then it will be the first time that the game will not be playable to the device since it came out, noted Polygon.
As it stands, not releasing the upcoming title to any Nintendo consoles will make this the first in 15 years that a FIFA title missed the Japanese devices. FIFA video games have been a staple in Nintendo since it came out with the "FIFA 2001" in 2000, Polygon added. If the rumors were true, then it could really be disappointing for some, since the upcoming "FIFA 16" will be the most exciting iteration of the title to date.
On a positive note, last week, EA announced on their website that twelve Women's National Teams are included in the title, and they're available in online and offline modes.
However, those looking to crossover men's and women's matches won't be able to do so, as the women's teams can only compete against other women's national teams just like in real soccer matches.
The women's teams are Spain, China, Italy, Australia, Mexico, Germany, Brazil, Sweden, USA, England, France and Canada.
Fans of 2011 World Champions Japan won't be able to play as the "Nadeshikos" because the team is not included in the video game yet.
"FIFA 16" is arriving to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC in September 2015.
