iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus Rumors: Force Touch, More RAM, Better Camera and More Expected
The next iPhone is likely coming early this fall. It is expected to be called the iPhone 6S and come with some significant upgrades from the iPhone 6.
This year would be considered an "S" year for Apple, meaning it is expected to make slight upgrades from last year's iPhone 6. That could mean an iPhone 7 would be delayed until 2016.
Well-respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple is planning on upgrading the iPhone significantly and therefore it will be called the iPhone 7.
As far as design goes, the new iPhone will likely keep the same two screen sizes, 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. The Plus model will have the bigger screen. Apple is not expected to release a C model that would have a small 4-inch screen.
The exterior of the iPhone could change slightly, in color and material. A new pink color could be added to the lineup, joining the existing space gray, silver and gold colors, Mac Rumors reported. The next iPhone might also get a stronger aluminum material. The 7000 series aluminum is what the new Apple Watch uses, it is 60 percent stronger than traditional aluminum, but it is also still lightweight.
A new processor is also planned for the next iPhone. This will be the A9 processor and it will be faster and more capable than the A8 processor.
The amount of RAM is expected to double from 1 GB to 2 GB on the next iPhone. This could help the iPhone multitask better or even run multiple apps at the same time.
The iPhone 6 kept the 8 megapixel (MP) camera that the iPhone 5 had. Finally, a new camera is planned for the next iPhone and it will be 12 MP.
Force Touch is expected to be added to the next iPhone. This feature was introduced on the Apple Watch, and it helps the device recognize the amount of pressure that a user puts onto the device, allowing for different tasks to be performed.
The expected release date is sometime in September. Apple could announce the phone in August and start selling it in September.
