Simon Pegg continues to reveal news about the latest "Star Trek 3," and this time the actor has admitted that the new script was not quite finished.

With "Star Trek 3" slated to start shooting in four weeks, Pegg admitted on a radio show that he has only handed in the first draft of the script.

He said, "We started again six months before we were due to start shooting, which is insane! In fact...we start shooting in Vancouver in four weeks -- and we're only handing in our first draft today."

Pegg has been working on the script of the film for months and he recently noted that early drafts of the film were scrapped because they were too "Star Treky." The actor was the second screenwriter the studio hired as Paramount believed he could ease the process and turn in something impressive. However, with his recent comments, fans and studio executives should begin to worry as the film will start shooting this month. Paramount is counting on a 2016 release date as the studio wants it out for the summer.

If the script is not finished on time, it could delay the film or could affect the quality of the tentpole. Paramount is more likely to delay especially after the second installment "Star Trek: Into Darkness" was criticized for some of its plot points and for its lead villain. The result was a weaker box office and weaker reviews than the 2009 reboot "Star Trek."

"Star Trek 3" is slated to star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin and Karl Urban. John Cho and Sofia Boutella. Idris Elba is rumored to be in the film as the villain. The movie will be directed by Justin Lin ("Fast Five"), who is taking over for J.J. Abrams.

The film is slated to open on July 8, 2016.
