Chris Brown Assault Case: Breezy Rejects Plea Deal in D.C. Assault, Lawyer Says He's Not Guilty
Chris Brown continues his campaign of being difficult with his latest court stunt -- he and his lawyer have rejected the proposed plea in his D.C. assault case because, according to them, Brown is "not guilty."
According to The New York Daily News, Mark Geragos -- best known for representing Michael Jackson in his child molestation case -- says that his client rejected the offer because he's not guilty, and therefore doesn't feel the need to take it. "'I've seen everything I need to see in this case, so absent prosecutors turning over video footage of [Brown] doing it, there's little or no chance of any plea deal,'" Geragos told The News exclusively.
These latest charges stem from Brown's actions outside of a W Hotel in October 2013, according to CNN. At that time, "Parker said Brown's bodyguard -- who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 240 pounds -- stepped between them and punched Parker in the face, the [police] report said. The bodyguard then grabbed Brown by his arm and pulled him toward his tour bus, which was parked nearby, it said.
"Brown and the bodyguard were taken into custody and were being held at the Second District police station, police said. Both men were later transferred to a central jail cell block for processing, police said.
"Parker was treated for a bruised and swollen face at a hospital and released, police spokesman Anthony Clay told CNN.
"Brown was in Washington to host a 'homecoming party' at The Park at Fourteen nightclub Saturday night, according to his Twitter feed, just four blocks away from where he was arrested Sunday morning."
Both sides have agreed to meet again on Feb. 20. The reason for the rejection of the plea deal was because the defense feels they have a winnable case because video surveillance hasn't been entered into evidence.
