Coachella 2014 Lineup Announced: OutKast, Muse, Arcade Fire Headline Event
The 2014 Coachella lineup has been announced today, and as in previous years, this year's lineup features an eclectic mix of modern rock, hip-hop, and classic rock... plus a few other surprises in between!
This year's biggest announcement is, of course, the OutKast reunion that will take place on Friday, Apr. 11. OutKast will headline the Friday shows; rock act Muse will headline the Saturday shows, and Arcade Fire will close out the lineup on Sunday's shows.
Other notable rock performances from the lineups include Motorhead (rock legends), Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, The Afghan Whigs, and Roxy Music brain-child Brian Ferry.
Hip-hop is certainly well represented at the festival, as well: aside from Outkast, fans of the genre can expect to see Nas, Chance the Rapper, and A$AP Ferg.
Those who are fans of an era gone by can get their fix with such artists as The Pet Shop Boys, Neko Case, The Replacements ("Alex Chilton" still bangs!), The Cult, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Finally, if electronic music is more your thing, you can get your fix from such artists as Fatboy Slim and DJ Falcon.
In total, more than 150 acts will grace the Coachella stage, which will take place in Indio, California. Tickets go on sale Friday, and passes for the first weekend of Coachella are already in limited supply, according to The Huffington Post.
"General admission for the entire weekend starts at $375. General admission and shuttle combo tickets for Weekend 1 are already in limited supply. "For your best chance," the Coachella site advises, register for Weekend 2. Last year, each festival weekend sold three-day passes to 90,000 attendees, according to event organizer Goldenvoice. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival takes place in Indio, Calif., about 127 miles east of Los Angeles. It first took place in 1999 and lost $800,000, notes Bloomberg, but it is now the most profitable music festival in the U.S," reports the site.
