WWE News & Rumors: Stone Cold To Face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 32?
Ever since former UFC heavyweight fighter Brock Lesnar re-signed with the WWE after announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts, fans have been anticipating his next big match in the professional wrestling ring.
His return deserves something grand, and it seems retired wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is willing to welcome the ex-MMA fighter in a fight at Wrestlemania 32.
Austin was speaking with guest Paul Heyman on his monthly podcast show at the WWE Network when he was asked if he'd consider to go against Lesnar at Wrestlemania 32.
"If I was going to fight Brock Lesnar, I'd beat his a**," said the 50-year-old wrestler with his trademark Texan drawl to Heyman. "And you know that as well as I do, Paul. I'm not saying I'm going to, but I think you know how this is going down."
While he did not confirm that an actual Wrestlemania 32 match is happening between him and Lesnar, many fans of the wrestler have expressed excitement over the possible face-off. But Austin was quick to explain why it might not happen after all.
"I don't think he'd want to take all the momentum, all the good stuff that you guys have done and then to roll into 105,000 people to Texas, AT&T, Cowboy Stadium, whatever you call it, and get his a** smoked," added the WWE Triple Crown Champion.
The rivalry between Austin and Lesnar go way back, even before "Stone Cold" retired and the 37-year-old went to the UFC.
Should the dream match-up push through, then it would finally give the two wrestlers a chance to resume their old rivalry.
But in order for the match to happen, Austin hinted that he would only agree to face Lesnar if it would be a "Texas Death Match."
According to ProWrestling, a Texas Death Match is "similar to the Last Man Standing Match," but only differs in the fact that one must pin his opponent first before the referee begins his count to 10 to be declared the winner.
It remains to be seen if WWE would take note of Austin's statement and capitalize it into a marquee event at the upcoming Wrestlemania 32 on April 3.
