Breaking Bad Prequel 2014: Spinoff Show Will Begin Airing in Fall 2014; Aaron Paul To Appear?
Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul officially is slated to hit American television screens via AMC in November 2014.
The show, which is a prequel to Breaking Bad, will be aired Sundays, according to the network. The scripted lineup also includes The Walking Dead, Turn, Mad Men, Halt and Catch Fire, and Hell on Wheels.
It was impressive how fast the creators of Breaking Bad made the switch to Better Call Saul. It was just this past fall when we got to see the thrilling conclusion to Breaking Bad and next fall we will already be diving into the prequel. According to the USA Today, it is going to be both funny and serious at the same time and will take place before Breaking Bad even begins. However, nobody has ruled out the possibility of extending Better Call Saul into the Breaking Bad era.
Creator Vince Gilligan said he hopes to see some of everyone's favorite Breaking Bad stars in the show besides just Saul. With this being said, he also knows that the success from Breaking Bad has made the actors even more popular.
"They're off making big movies and doing Broadway plays and whatnot, and that's exactly the way it should be," he said to Entertainment Weekly. "That is a high-class problem that we will have to contend with as we go forward with Better Call Saul, if we do indeed want to touch base with some of these characters ... Better Call Saul could be The Love Boat of its generation, where instead of Milton Berle showing up in a sailor's cap, hopefully it could be Aaron Paul, also in a sailor's cap. [Laughs]"
