‘Agent Carter’ Season 2 Spoilers: Hayley Atwell Teases ‘Very Dark Glamor’ in New Storyline
Hayley Atwell of “Agent Carter” was among the actresses who took part in the Canadian TV Upfronts that was recently held in Toronto. Much to the delight of the show’s loyal fans, she revealed some important details about the show’s second season when she was interviewed by CTV.
Apart from confirming that Season 2 will have a Los Angeles setting, Atwell also revealed that the show will return to the small screens with a much darker tone, despite “lots of beautiful shots of the rolling Hollywood hills and palm trees.”
“I kind of keep thinking ‘LA Confidential’ in my head when I think about Season 2," Atwell gushed. "There is a very dark glamor to it,” she revealed. “I love playing her. I know her so well. You are not creating a character from scratch anymore. She is established. So, we can have more fun with the show. Maybe Peggy sitting in a convertible, with a head scarf, looking fabulous."
It would appear that Atwell was hinting on the series showing more of Peggy Carter’s feminine side as she cruises Los Angeles’ streets in a convertible during the mid-20th century backdrop. She might even get a new love interest. Atwell completely agrees with this direction as she thinks that “it is time” for “Agent Carter” to finally focus on Peggy’s love life after finally accepting that Steve Rogers is no longer in the picture.
According to the second season’s official synopsis that was reported by Screen Rant earlier last month, Peggy might meet her “new love” in LA, which refutes fan speculations that she will be dating someone from Season 1, such as Daniel Sousa, played by Enver Gjokaj. However, it is highly likely that this new love interest will end up marrying Peggy. After all, this mystery man also plays a huge role in the founding of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Despite entering a love arc for the action-packed TV show, Atwell has admitted that she will always enjoy the stunts that she does. Apparently, she had insisted to the show runners that she wants to do all of her stunts herself in order to keep the authenticity of the series.
“I love the stunts!” Atwell shared. “I have two stunt coordinators who trained me up. it is like a dance. It all feels fluid. You have to get the right movements and make sure there is enough distance between you and the stunt men so you do not hurt them – which I have done many times. But, it is a blast. You get to channel any tension or aggression you have got.”
