Mexico was close to securing its first win in the 2015 Women's World Cup when a late goal from Colombia equalized the score that left Las Tri robbed of its victory when the final whistle was blown.

FIFA provided the highlights of the game, and here are some of them.

The team led by Nayeli Rangel dominated the first half of the match in spite of the windy weather that met their team in Moncton. But a persistent Las Cafeteras squad fought for the entire 90 minutes with their efforts rewarded with only eight minutes remaining.

Mexico seemed determined to take home its first victory as it began its attack early in the game. But Colombia was not too far behind as Yoreli Rincon broke free from the Mexican defenders to strike a shot straight into the goal but was later tagged as offside, the report added.

In spite of the attacking opportunities from Las Cafeteras, Mexico opened the scoring with a 35th minute goal from Veronica Perez' corner kick. Colombian goalkeeper Stefany Castano almost denied the goal with a block using her palm that saw the ball go past the crossbar and counted in.

The goal was verified with the use of the new goal-line technology. It was the first time that the technology was used in the World Cup.

Mexico had several chances to increase their lead with Renae Cuellar's strikes, which all went off target.

Rincon was determined to recover from Mexico's first goal and almost succeeded with a free kick on the 59th minute. However, Mexican goalkeeper Cecelia Santiago's outstretched arm blocked the goal into the far post to deny an equalizer for the team.

With only eight minutes remaining, Mexico seemed assured of a victory in the group stages when a late stunner from Daniela Montoya right outside the penalty box equalized the game for the South American team.

Despite the tie, Mexico continued to vie for the win as Charlyn Corral netted one more goal during injury time, which was disallowed following a call on teammate Stephany Mayor for a foul on Angela Clavijo on the play, leading to the scoring opportunity.

Mexico will face England next while Colombia will go against France in the other matches on the group stages.
