Samsung Galaxy S6 Active: AT&T will Exclusively Offer Rugged Version of the S6
A durable and waterproof version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is coming Friday exclusively to AT&T. The Galaxy S6 Active is able to withstand drops and be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes, CNet reports.
The Galaxy S6 Active is very similar to the traditional Galaxy S6. Both smartphones run the latest version of Android (5.0.2 Lollipop), offer a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, a 16 megapixel (MP) camera and 32 GB of internal storage.
The battery life in the S6 Active could improve slightly thanks to the larger 3,500 mAh-sized battery used. Just like the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Active will support wireless charging.
Smartphone users have to be particularly careful with their devices, even the slightest drops could crack the screen or scuff the body. The Galaxy S6 Active is more forgiving to drops and even water.
The Galaxy S6 Active is dust-, water- and drop-resistant. It can be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes, and it can be dropped from up to four feet without being damaged.
Designed to be used outdoors and buy active users, the Galaxy S6 Active comes pre-loaded with the Activity Zone app. This app gives users one-button access to a compass, flashlight, stopwatch, the weather and other functions. The Galaxy S6 Active also has the Active button, which will allow quick access to the Activity Zone app.
Unlike the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Active offers three physical buttons on the front of the display, according to Gotta Be Mobile.
The Galaxy S6 Active will be available in three colors: Camo White, Camo Blue and gray. With a two-year contract it will cost $200. Without a contract, the phone can be purchased for $695 outright. Additionally, with AT&T Next, the Galaxy S6 Active can be had on Next 24 for 30 payments of $23.17, on Next 18 for 24 payments of $28.96 or on Next 12 for 20 payments of $34.75.
