Manchester City are interested in acquiring Raheem Sterling, but Liverpool rejected the bid of their English Premier League rival for their striker.

According to The Times, Liverpool turned down a £30 million offer from Manchester City, who are determined to get the England international, who has made it no secret that he will not sign a new deal when his current contract ends in 2017 after Liverpool declined to give into their demanded salary.

Manchester City reportedly offered £25 million and additional £5 million future payments. But Liverpool remained firm that they will not sell the 20-year-old midfielder less than their £50 million asking price.

However, even if they failed in their initial bid for Sterling, Daily Mail Online reported that Manchester City will launch a second attempt. Sources said, though, that Manchester City are not keen on offering £50 million for the Liverpool forward because they think it is way over the current market price of the promising midfielder.

Aside from Manchester City, Manchester United are also being linked to a move for Sterling, but recent reports indicated that the Red Devils have no plans to tender an offer to Liverpool for the coveted midfielder.

While there is no imminent deal, it is not a secret that Sterling's days at Anfield are already numbered. Sterling's agent Aidy Ward was supposed to meet with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and club chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday to tell them about their plan to move out, but the meeting was cancelled.

Ward made it clear, though, that they are determined to leave Liverpool. He reiterated that Sterling will not accept even a £900,000-a-week offer from Liverpool.

"He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing," Ward said via ESPN FC. "My job is to make sure I do the best with them. If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter. I am not worried. Worried is making a decision not knowing what is going to happen."
