Sony PlayStation 5 News & Rumors: Will Next Console Be Released in 2017?
For the Sony brand, PlayStation 4 has been the most successful product line as of lately.
Even as it continues to outsell Xbox One, the gaming console and its creators have been rumored to be right on top of things, with development of the PlayStation 5 going on behind the scenes, according to ValueWalk.
The necessity for such a quick follow-up release stems from the fact that Xbox One is already due to release its newest version. This also comes from the recent advances in visual technology, which includes the 4K upgrade for HD.
Resolution of this quality is super-important to gamers and binge streaming viewers alike. This technology, which is still mostly in the emerging phase, can potentially expand the gaming market and since Sony waited seven years to release the much anticipated PlayStation 4, the company can't drop the ball again with a delay on the PS5.
Running games in 4K resolution takes a lot of processing power and the theory is that the current version can do it, but not likely. Even the Xbox One has trouble with displaying games in 1080p.
The Morpheus Project is another reason they cannot wait any longer to get this gaming system advanced to the next level. Virtual reality is becoming one of the hottest trends on the market with Oculus Rift and others bringing about their own models to market competition.
So if the rumors are true and the behind-the-scenes activity for a PS5 is going on now, then it is very possible that the system will be rolled out sometime in 2017.
According to PC Advisor, the PS5 is more like years away, as opposed to mere months. This revolves around the upcoming release of PlayStation Now, which enables users to utilize cloud-based gaming and also play PS3 games on your PS4, Vista and Bravia TVs. Support for non-Sony devices will likely come later, but for now, it is promoting it on its own brands.
