As if the Galaxy S3 hasn't been making enough news, Samsung has decided to make another major splash to end the summer when they will unveil the Galaxy Note 2 in Berlin on August 29 prior to the IFA Conference.

The news was announced by Reuters who spoke with a Samsung representative. Samsung did not comment on the report from the news source agency.

Additionally, reports indicated that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display, improved processor and improved camera.

The original Note has been a huge success around the world with Samsung reporting in the spring that 5 million units were sold. The phone has not been without its critics however as some have noted that it is too large to hold in one hand. The phone weighs 6.3 ounces and features a 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm S3 processor, 1 GB of Ram and 16 GB of built-in storage plus a MicroSD slot. An 8-megapixel camera on the rear complements a 2-megapixel front camera, and there's a 2100 mAh battery.

The unveiling of the Note 2 comes weeks before Apple reportedly shows off their new iPhone 5 as both companies are in competition with one another. At the end of June, Samsung released the Galaxy S 3 phone and it promptly went on to sell millions of units at record pace. However, despite the business, polls indicated that the iPhone 5 was still on users' minds more than Samsung latest smartphone. The Note 2 announcement should certainly wrestle some customers back to Samsung's side.
