'Suits' Season 5 Cast Update: Sarah Rafferty Talks About Donna’s Days as Louis’ New Secretary
“Suits” season 5 will be hitting the small screen later this month, and it looks like there will be some major changes to the arrangement of the staff at Pearson Specter Litt.
Following the fallout between Donna, played by Sarah Rafferty, and Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, Donna decided to jump ship and transfer her secretarial services to Louis Litt, played by Rick Hoffman.
Louis had always wanted to acquire Donna for himself due to her efficiency, but Donna never agreed to his offers due to her loyalty to the great Harvey. Now that it would probably take a while before she and Harvey patch things up – especially after how season 4 ended – she is putting herself to good use.
“She is still the same girl in a lot of ways – outspoken, true to herself,” Rafferty, who had played the role for five years, told Screen Rant. “She is just in a much more complicated situation. She is not subservient.”
But what will happen to Donna and Harvey's relationship when “Suits” season 5 returns? Rafferty provided this hint: “They are just down the hall from each other,” she said. “If she really wanted to cut it off, she would have had to have left the firm. She was in a position where she could no longer move forward as his secretary. That is how she felt. Since he did not engage, she felt she had only one option.”
Fans are now wondering who Harvey’s new secretary will be and how she will make the “Suits” season 5 plot more interesting than it already is – especially with an incoming wedding between Mike Ross, played by Patrick Adams, and Rachel Zane, played by Meghan Markle.
“We do not deal much of wedding planning this season, to be honest – which I think is good,” Adams revealed to TV Fanatic. “I do not think our show would work in, like, watching us in wedding mode. I am getting a lot of scenes with Wendell Pierce – a lot of really fierce writing with him.”
Pierce portrays the role of Rachel’s very strict father, Robert Zane - someone who once had a spat with the lawyers at Pearson Specter Litt. Now that Mike and Rachel are getting married, though, it looks like Mike will have to win over his future bride’s father by “working together a lot.”
