"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" is resurrecting the franchise.

After a few years off, Tony Hawk is back on game consoles, and it will feel familiar to the classic Tony Hawk games of the past, according to CNet.

When the "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" series started declining in the late 2000s, the only skateboarding game to be found was EA's Skate.

Skate was a more realistic and accurate skateboarding simulation. Meanwhile, "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" games had more of an arcade skating style.

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" brings back the arcade-style skating experience and adds a few new features. Players will be rewarded for quickly mashing buttons together, just as they were in past Tony Hawk games. The game is forgiving and tricks are not impossible to pull off.

Robomodo is "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5's" developer. The company is creating flashbacks to past Tony Hawk games, especially in the places where players will skate. In the demo, there is a stage called Bunker which is a mixture of the Warehouse and Hangar stages.

The tricks will feel the same to previous versions of the game. The objective is to string a bunch of tricks together and rack up more points than opponents; that has still not changed.

There are some new features for this game though. To increase the skater's speed with a foot push, players will simply push of the pavement by using the right trigger button. Slowing down is performed by pressing the left trigger button.

In past versions of Tony Hawk, the special meter filled itself up when consecutive tricks were performed. In this version, players will press a button to activate their special. This turns the player's board blue and they can then perform their special maneuver.

A new feature called Slam will allow players to shift their weight and bring the board down when grinding.

Multiplayer online skating is coming to "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5." This means that up to 20 players will be able to hang out in freeskate mode all at once. This will feel like a real skate park.

Players can pair up with their friends and complete missions together.

According to Euro Gamer, "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" will debut for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Sept. 29. It will then be followed with the release of the game on PS3 and Xbox 360 later.
