The second night of American Idol was full of good vibe and laughter but with a bit of confusion. It featured the rest of auditions in Austin, Texas, continued in San Francisco.

Harry Connick Jr., who was expected to be the meanest panelist on the reality-singing competition series, certainly did not hesitate to show his brutally honest side. Spencer Lloyd, a worship leader from Arizona, had confidence and a smooth voice. After his performance, Connick Jr. said to the contestant, "You seem like a sweet guy. You are killer handsome. The part that is missing -- you're an okay singer. You'll go out. Whoever is lined up next to you will have to deal with the deafening screams of your looks and sweetness." Similarly, when a shirtless wannabe comedian with a disastrous voice stepped up, the judge immediately stopped him, and said that he "disrespected the process."

The show seemed to confuse the audience due to its overwhelming editing. The producers filled in a lot of auditions with quick clips. For instance, after Marlon Lindsey, whose Idol plans were delayed while he served in the army, gave his performance, in which he sang "Change Is Going to Come," he got a "wow" from Jennifer Lopez. However, it was never revealed if he got a golden ticket to Hollywood, which happened a lot throughout last night's program.

And there were some highlights. Texan Jesse Roach sang in her garage when a neighbor stopped by and told her that she was going to take the contestant to "American Idol" audition. "You could be an artist," said Lopez. "A voice with rasp I wasn't distracted by," added Harry Connick Jr. Overall, the judges loved Roach's sound and edge, and she got a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Jamiah Malik and his close friend Quiandra Boston-Pearsall, who had two completely different styles, auditioned together. By their strange editing, the producers once again kept it a secret for a commercial break as to who advanced. It was eventually revealed that Boston-Pearsall made the cut while Malik did not.

The show then made its way to San Francisco, where Rachel Rolleri sang "Stay," and charmed the judges. However, Connick Jr. let the contestant know not to make faces when she messes up, saying, "You have understated confidence."

David Luning sang an original and before he was even finished performing, Lopez said, "I love it," while Keith Urban liked his "staunch originiality." However, Connick Jr. was worried about the down nature of the song. The Latin mogul added that the contestant was interesting enough for her to see again, and Luning consequently got a gold ticket.

"I'm not going to get cut," said Briana Oakley, who auditioned and did not make it last year. "I'm relentless." She sang "Stay" and her perseverance definitely paid off. Keith Urban liked her in Season 12 and remembered her. "It reminded me of Jordan Sparks a little bit," said Lopez. Connick Jr. and Urban both were impressed with Oakley and awarded her a golden ticket.

33 more contestants were brought to Hollywood from Thursday night, Jan. 16, making 76 in total to date.
