Soccer Transfer Rumors & News: Real Madrid's Asier Illarramendi to Transfer to Liverpool FC?
Asier Illarramendi is reportedly saying goodbye to the Liga BBVA and hello to the English Premier League.
The Telegraph is reporting that the midfielder is set to be transferred to Liverpool after stating he wants to leave Real Madrid. The Spanish giants apparently will let him leave but aim to be taking a large portion of fees they .
The reason that Illarramendi is leaving is because of the lack of playing time. Illarramendi signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid in 2013 after moving for a fee of more than $53 million the highest amount paid by the club for a Spanish player, BBC Sport reports.
Liverpool FC is not the only teams that wants to sign him. According to Squawka, Illarramendi's former club Real Sociedad are also keen on re-signing the midfielder but that will more than likely not happen. Manchester United are also interested and, while they have not yet made any bid, the situation could change quickly if they enter the bidding.
Liverpool are now deciding whether to make a higher offer. Arsenal are also believed to be interested, but Brendan Rodgers is pushing hard to get the deal done before Arsene Wenger loosens his purse strings, as was the case with Alexis Sanchez's transfer last season.
"I have a contract for a few more years and I hope to stay because I really like it here," Illarramendi said, the Mirror reports. "The truth is that I haven't played much. Everyone likes to play more, but obviously in Madrid it's very difficult to play and get continuity."
Despite his lack of playing time, Illarramendi played in 30 games with 0 goals, 0 assists and 6 shots.
