Will the unbeaten champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. face Gennady Golovkin and Miguel Cotto in his remaining fights?

Most boxing fans are still hoping that the 38-year-old undefeated boxer with 48 wins will collide with Golovkin and Cotto despite Mayweather announcing two names as possible challengers in September.

Recently, Mayweather's camp revealed that they have their eyes set on Andre Berto, a Hatian-American boxer holding a 30-3 win-loss record and Karim Mayfield who has a 19-2 record.

"We're looking at two different guys. We're looking at Andre Berto, Karim Mayfield. We just don't know. Those are a couple of names... We just have to wait and see," Mayweather told reporters, including FightHype.com.

The fighter, who recently defeated Filipino boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on May 2, did not mention WBC middleweight champion Cotto and Golovkin on his short list.

Cotto may not be on his list, because for him, Cotto is already "washed up."

"Miguel Cotto....solid fighter, strong, good puncher. But, if I'm not mistaken you guys were the same ones who said I was fighting a guy who he was washed up. But when he comes back and beats [Sergio] Martinez, you said he was reborn again," Mayweather told reporters when asked about a possible rematch with Cotto, whom he defeated in 2012.

A match against Golovkin, who has knocked out 30 of his 33 opponents, is also being contested by the boxer's coach and father himself, Mayweather senior, despite the fighter's willingness to meet Mayweather at 154 pounds.

The elder Mayweather has his apprehensions. He proposed that there should be a rehydration clause in case "GGG" and "The Money" decide to face each other.

"If I was Floyd, I would tell him to hold the weight until the fight. Fight at 154, 150 and make sure that he holds that weight the next day," Mayweather Sr. told BoxingScene.com

Mayweather Jr. also sounded cold about the possibility of facing Golovkin because he is not impressed with the 33-year-old Kazakh.

"Even with me being at my weight, I'm just too smart. You have guys out there who can punch with both hands, that go to the body good. The thing is this, I do everything good. But my best attribute is that I'm very, very smart. He's a solid puncher, but he's straight up and down...really no special effects, at least not to me. You could see him coming straight ahead," Mayweather Jr. said, as quoted by the sports site.
