A larger iPad could be coming later this year. This iPad would be much larger than previous tablets from Apple, likely having an almost 13-inch screen, according to Mac Rumors. 

Apple could call the new tablet the iPad Pro or the iPad Air Plus. The size of the screen would be much larger than Apple's largest tablet, the iPad Air, which has a 9.7-inch screen. The new iPad would have a 12.9-inch screen.

The iPad Pro will maintain its thin profile, likely having just 7 mm of thickness. It will have similar features to the iPad Air 2 like 2 GB of RAM, Touch ID and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

The screen on the upcoming tablet is said to be "ultra" high-resolution. According to code in the upcoming operating system iOS 9, the resolution of the screen will be 2732 x 2048, displaying 264 pixels per inch.

Force Touch has been appearing on Apple's recent products. This technology allows devices to detect the difference between a soft tap and a hard touch on the display or touchpad to perform different functions.

Audio performance will likely improve on the iPad Pro. Apple will likely put microphones and speakers on both the top and the bottom of the device. This will give the tablet a better stereo audio experience.

For a processor, the iPad Pro could go in two directions. The tablet could use the older but powerful A8X processor, the same processor used in the iPad Air 2. Another option for the iPad Pro is to use the new, faster A9 processor. Since the tablet is not expected until later this year, it would make sense for it to use the A9 processor.

The iPad Pro is expected to be shipped with 2 GB of RAM, the same amount included in the iPad Air 2.

NFC technology could be added to the new iPad. This would allow users to turn their iPad Pro into a payment terminal to accept Apple Pay transactions. 

Earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that a USB 3.0 port may be included in the next iPad. This would allow users to plug in more devices.
