'Kingdom Hearts 3' Update & Release Date: 'KH3' To Have Online Mode? 'Unchained' Coming To Android & iOS Devices?
After Square Enix confirmed in E3 2013 that "Kingdom Hearts 3" is in the works, the upcoming title is finally nearing its release, with a few surprises. It seems that the developers are looking into putting an online mode to the popular video game as an added gameplay.
In a recent interview with Engagdet, game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that his team has "plenty of ideas brewing" for an online mode of "Kingdom Hearts 3."
"Online is certainly part of my wish list," said Nomura. "We want gamers to play for a while and an online component helps this."
The last "Kingdom Hearts" title was released in 2002, more than a decade ago and gamers are still playing it until now.
While he admitted that the developers are currently busy with the main game, the online mode is definitely not placed on the back burner. The team is still developing the main campaign before testing out how the online feature would work with the overall set-up of "Kingdom Hearts 3."
Nomura added that the next iteration will have more worlds than its predecessor. The team has already listed which ones can be considered on the game but nothing is final yet so those that they have initially included can still be cut from the final version of the title.
As for rumors of having the cold world of Elsa and Anna in "Frozen" included in the next title, the director did not confirm this.
Square Enix revealed a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming title in E3 2015. While no release date has been announced yet, some speculate that the developers will be ready to dish out more details at the D23 event in Japan this November, reported PC Advisor.
Meanwhile, smartphone and tablet users are in for a treat as Nomura and co-director Tai Yasue confirmed that a mobile version of "Kingdom Hearts" will soon be available to iOS and Android.
According to Tech Times, the game called "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X" will be similar to its browser counterpart although with much easier navigation and gameplay.
The mobile version of the popular title will act as a prequel to the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3" for the console as it features not previously released characters such as Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
It will also feature customization theme for players to be able to channel their favorite Disney characters, noted Cult of Mac.
The game will be available for free on the Apple Store and Google Play soon.
