"Mysteries of the Brain," a new eight-part video series, debuted on NBC Learn in early June, and it continues to highlight new leading research in brain science.

The National Science Foundation partnered with NBC Learn, the educational arm of NBCUniversal News Group, to conduct research as part of the White House brain initiative. The series aims to capture the journey to the expose the mysteries and complexities of the human brain. It also profiles the scientists and addresses the latest discoveries in neuroscience.

Narrated by NBC News Correspondent Tom Costello, the videos address national and state education standards, and later in the summer it will present lesson plans developed by the National Science Teachers Association for middle and high school students, supplemented by free online material offered at NBCLearn.com, NSF.gov/brain and Science360.gov.

Audiences will learn facts about the development of the brain, emotional control, memory creation, the evolution of the brain, consciousness, perception, brain-computer interface and other important facts. Questions regarding the complexity of brain interaction, and its relation to physical and social environment will be answered. It also addresses how people interact and connect with each person in each ever-changing environment.
