Tournament favorites Germany and France will collide in the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup on Friday at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Canada.

Germany, who are considered favorites to win the tournament as they are on top of the latest FIFA rankings, will look to pick up from where they left off during their Round-of-16 match.

The Germany squad, who tallied two lopsided victories and one draw during the group stage of the tournament, ran away with a lopsided 4-1 win against Sweden on Saturday in Ottawa.

Germany coach Silvia Neid refused to accept the favorite tag because she believes they are at par in terms of talents, but she is hoping luck will be on their side on Friday.

When asked if there are specific players they are going to focus on, Neid said that they cannot afford to neutralize just a player or two because France lean on collective effort.

"You cannot just name one player, if you name one you have to name another one because they are all very well trained," Neid told Sportsnet. "They are technically very skilled, they have a high degree of game intelligence and they play the game really well. We all have to do really good team work."

On the other hand, France are also focused heading into their match against their fellow European powerhouse. The French side, who are ranked third in the world, cruised to the quarterfinals with an impressive 3-0 win against South Korea on Sunday in Montreal.

France coach Philippe Bergeroo knows that their next match will not be as easy as their game against the Koreans, but the 61-year-old coach said that they are prepared to stand toe-to-toe against Germany.

"We know their strengths. We also know their weaknesses. We've been observing them for some time," Bergeroo said via Yahoo Sports. "Already we are playing against a team that is classed first in FIFA. So we are the outsiders compared to that team. But we have a lot of ambition for that game."

The Germany-France match, which is considered by many as the virtual championship match, will kick off at 4 p.m. ET and will be shown live on Fox Network and through online streaming via Fox Soccer 2GO.

The match between these two powerhouse squads is too close to call, but Germany are expected to escape with a close win to arrange a semis match against either USA or China. Germany 2-1.
