The Lenovo Yoga 3 14 is taking most of the features of the successful Yoga 3 Pro and cutting down the price for its latest hybrid laptop, according to CNET

Looking at the Lenovo Yoga 3 14 creates the illusion of a standard thin clamshell laptop. However, this laptop has two hinges that allow the screen to be rotated up to 360 degrees, transforming it into a tablet.

The Yoga 3 14 was able to squeeze a 14-inch screen into a body that is pretty much the same size as a 13.3-inch laptop.

The Yoga 3 14 will get a nice upgrade in its processor too. The Yoga 3 Pro used an Intel Core M processor, but buyers of the Yoga 3 14 will be able to choose between the fifth generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors by Broadwell.

The Yoga 3 Pro was underpowered and lacked a long-lasting battery. The Yoga 3 14 not only gets much better processors; it also gets up to eight hours of battery life. All of these improved features will come in a laptop that stays under $1,000.

The Yoga 3 14 will not be as thin as similar laptops or even the Yoga 3 Pro, but it is still relatively light and portable. The thickness measures in at 18.3mm, and it weighs 3.7 pounds. According to Tech Radar, lighter hybrid laptops can be purchased from Microsoft and Asus.

The 14-inch screen gives users extra room to work, but the body makes it feel like its only a 13-inch model. The screen will display a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, which means sharp looking text and graphics. One complaint about the screen is it does not get very bright, which could lead to glare when used in a bright setting.

Since this is an ultraportable hybrid laptop, the speakers on the Yoga 3 14 are not expected to provide a spectacular listening experience. Instead, it is recommended to plug in some headphones or external speakers when listening to music on the laptop.

The price of the Yoga 3 14 starts at $799, but upgrading to the Intel Core i7 processor will increase the cost. With the better processors and longer battery life, this is a big improvement to the Yoga 3 Pro.
