‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Sequel: Filming Wraps With a Flurry of Instagram Posts [Pictures]
Nia Vardalos, the writer and producer of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," took to Instagram on Thursday, June 25 to post a selfie on the set of the "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" sequel, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Vardalos' selfie also featured her co-star and movie love interest John Corbett who appears shirtless in the background.
Alongside the photo, Vandals wrote a spoiler message about Corbett's character Ian getting baptized again, so fans can expect to see a baptism scene in the upcoming film.
In addition to posting her recent selfie on set, Vardalos has also posted several other photos during the "MBFGW" sequel filming process which began seven weeks ago on May 10. Check out some of the photos below.
On Saturday, June 27 Vardalos posted her last selfie from set and revealed to her Instagram followers that filming had just wrapped up for the sequel.
E! News reports that all of the original "MBFGW" cast members have reunited for the sequel, however, there will also be some new faces added to the cast including that of "Full House alum" John Stamos.
Last month, Vardalos spoke with the Hollywood Reporter about filming the sequel and how motherhood inspired her to create a part two of the cult-classic.
"Now that I'm experiencing motherhood, I'm ready to write the next chapter of my family story," Vardalos told THR. "Of course a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true."
THR reported that Playtone, HBO and Gold Circle are reportedly back as the studio entities behind the sequel. Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are returning as producers. Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt, Steve Shareshian, and Nia Vardalos will serve as executive producers.
According to Variety, the "MBFGW" sequel story follows the lovably loud Portokalos family who return after a family secret is revealed and a bigger, fatter wedding brings the big fat Greek family back together again.
