Becky G New Music 2015: Mexican American Singer Responds to Donald Trump With 'We Are Mexico' [Listen]
Becky G did what she knows best to respond to Donald Trump's rant about Mexican immigrants.
The singer released a single titled "We Are Mexico," showing her support for immigrants and adding herself to a group of stars taking a stand against the 2016 Republican presidential candidate.
According to Billboard, the 18-year-old released the song on June 26 on Twitter and it quickly became a trending topic. The "Shower" singer took to Twitter to show her appreciation.
In the song, the Mexican-American singer describes the experience of many immigrants in the United States.
"Hard work, double time, overtime, two jobs, working till our heads hurt, but we ain't never late to pay the bills," sings the star. "If you don't know now you know, we are Mexico."
The song was retweeted 2,500 times in the first two hours and can now also be found on YouTube. The graphic accompanying the video includes the Mexican flag surrounded by the American flag in the background. In front of that is an arm with a tattoos of the flags of Latin American countries.
The young star is only the latest in a string of celebrities responding to Trump's racist comments about Mexican immigrants over the last few days.
Last week, reggaeton singer J Balvin canceled his performance at the Miss USA pageant, and Zuleyka Rivera dropped out of judging, while actors Roselyn Sanchez and Cristián de La Fuente will no longer be hosting.
Univision also made a statement that the network was cutting ties with Trump and would not be airing the Miss USA pageant as it was scheduled to do.
Other stars, like rock band Maná, have also publicly slammed Trump on social media.
