Microsoft Adds a Cheaper Surface Pro 3 with a Core i7 Processor
Microsoft will give its customers another choice when searching for a Surface Pro 3 tablet.
Customers will be able to purchase a Surface Pro 3 with an Intel Core i7 processor with less storage for $1,299, according to CNet.
The Surface Pro 3 will still come with an impressive 8 GB of RAM, but customers will be able to get the more powerful Core i7 processor in exchange for less storage space. The Core i7 processor Surface Pro 3 will come with 128 GB of internal storage instead of the 256 GB or 512 GB that it normally came with.
The new Surface Pro 3 with the Core i7 processor will cost the same as the Core i5 model that comes with 256 GB of storage. At $1,299, this is the cheapest Core i7 version of the Surface Pro 3 that can be purchase. In the past, customers had to pay $1,549 for 256 GB of storage or $1,949 for 512 GB of storage and an i7 processor, according to PC Magazine.
Users that are more concerned about performance over storage space will definitely be drawn to the Surface Pro 3 with the Core i7 processor, which is the fastest processor offered for use in the Surface Pro 3. Customers can also choose to purchase the Surface Pro 3 equipped with a Core i3 or Core i5 processor.
The Core i7 Surface Pro 3 is rated at 1.7 GHz, but can be increased to 3.3 GHz with the Turbo Boost Technology from Intel. The faster Surface Pro 3 will also include the Intel HD Graphics 5000 chipset, which will provide better video performance.
