Glory Johnson Says She's Having Twins, Insists Brittney Griner Agreed to Children
Glory Johnson says she's expecting twins and insists it's what both she and fellow WNBA star Brittney Griner agreed they wanted and planned for together.
The Tulsa Shock veteran told TMZ Sports she is now nine weeks pregnant and isn't the least bit surprised that she is carrying two babies.
"It's not a surprise for me because this is what we planned for with the IVF Cycle," she said. Johnson later added, "Hearing their hearts beat for the first time was the most astonishing thing I have ever heard in my entire life."
Revealing her condition and listening to some of the comments made by Griner in the wake of it has also had to have captured Johnson's undivided attention.
After filing to have their marriage annulled after just 28 days, Griner claimed in court documents that she has "no biological connection" to the kids and that she didn't know any of the key details related to the pregnancy.
She later admitted in an ESPN interview that she was aware of Johnson's pregnancy, but was totally surprised by the timing of her public announcement about it.
"It's very early," she said. "It's too early to post or say anything about it."
It remains unclear if Griner plans to play any role in the kid's lives or wants to have a relationship with them.
Griner, who just returned to the Phoenix Mercury's lineup following a seven-game, season-opening suspension stemming from a domestic abuse altercation where both she and Johnson ended up arrested, still stresses she's convinced getting married to her was a "huge mistake." She reasons she only agreed to it because she felt pressured into it.
"With everything going on ... counseling, classes ... it wasn't the right way to start off a marriage like that," she said.
